who am i?

I’m Jez, a serving Royal Air Force officer and trainee fast-jet pilot, working with some of the most advanced aircraft and people in the aviation world. My interest in flying started early; my father is an airline pilot, and pursuing the fast-jet route felt like the natural way to push myself towards the highest level of aviation.

I founded Military Assessment Preparation because there was nowhere for candidates to properly practise group planning skills, especially in a realistic, virtual environment with real-time coaching. Seeing people improve session by session is the part I enjoy most, and it drives the way I teach: clear structure, practical frameworks, and a focus on doing the small things correctly and consistently.

Outside of work, I stay grounded through weightlifting, running, and rowing, and I reset by reading. Right now, Supercommunicators by Charles Duhigg.

These routines help keep my performance sharp, and they shape the mindset I bring into every MAP session.

My Story

Alongside my own training, I have spent several years supporting others through structured preparation and coaching.

During my time with the University Air Squadron, I regularly ran mock assessments and practice group exercises for students preparing for officer selection. These sessions focused on placing individuals in time-pressured, unfamiliar scenarios and observing how they communicated, planned, adapted, and worked as part of a team.

In parallel, I developed Passmatics, an online mathematics tutoring platform, and delivered extensive one-to-one A-Level Maths tuition. This required breaking down complex problems clearly, adapting explanations to different learning styles, and giving precise, constructive feedback, skills that directly translate into effective coaching for interviews and group tasks.

Across these experiences, a consistent theme emerged: strong performance is rarely about knowledge alone. It comes from clear thinking, calm communication, teamwork, and sound decision-making under pressure. Military Assessment Preparation was built to develop those skills in a practical, structured, and realistic way.

WHAT I DO

I help aspiring officers prepare for:

  • AIB

  • AOSB

  • OASC

My focus is not on shortcuts or scripts, but on developing the skills assessors actually observe:

  • Clear communication under time pressure

  • Logical planning and prioritisation

  • Effective teamwork and leadership

  • Self-awareness and adaptability

All preparation is based on realistic exercises, proven frameworks, and direct feedback.

WHAT I don't do

It’s important to be completely clear:

I am not involved in the recruitment, selection, or assessment process for the Royal Navy, British Army, or Royal Air Force.

I have no influence over outcomes, no access to candidate files, and no insight into individual assessment results beyond what clients choose to share.

Military Assessment Preparation is entirely independent of AIB, AOSB and OASC.

why trust this process

  • I’ve been through the system myself

  • I understand how candidates are assessed in practice, not theory

  • I work with individuals across all three services

  • I focus on long-term performance, not gimmicks

Everything taught is transferable, ethical, and designed to help you perform at your best, regardless of outcome.

Final word

Selection boards are not looking for a perfect candidate. They are looking for someone they can train, trust, and develop.

My role is to help you show that person, clearly, confidently, and authentically.
